West Bay

The warm glow of the sandstone cliff above this shingle beach make it a stunning place to spend your day by the sea. There is a pretty harbour, lots of wonderful food stalls and plenty of shops, restaurants, pubs and cafes. There are beaches that go west from the main beach that get sandier and are dog friendly. It is safe to swim here, but the ones with the easiest entry to the water with the most gentle incline are the beaches to the west. 

Lyme Regis

Lyme Regis is a pretty seaside town, it has three main beaches, a sandy beach, perfect for sandcastles, safe swimming and close to all the town's amenities, a pebble beach, away from the crowds and some of the best beaches for fossil hunting in the world. There is also a picturesque harbour, breath-taking scenery and a fabulous events calendar to keep you entertained all year round. 

Cogden

Cogden beach is a steep shelved sand and shingle beach. Dogs are welcome all year off their lead. It is easy to get to and has a National Trust car park. It is not safe to swim here as there are very strong undercurrents. It is usually quiet and peaceful with lots of beachand is a popular spot for sea fishing.

Charmouth

Charmouth, nominated by Countryfile as one of the best beaches in the UK, has lots of sand, especially at low tide, safe swimming, picnic areas, a cafe and a shop. Beach huts are available to hire. There is lots of wonderful fossil hunting to be done here on this beach. The coast path walk is stunning from this location.

Weymouth

Blue Flag winning Weymouth Beach is consistently recognised as one of the top ten beach destinations in Europe. Beautiful golden sands, safe shallow waters, an action packed event programme and bustling pretty harbourside. If you want a beach day relaxing by the sea, shopping, adventurous activities for the kids, museums and historical interest or cafes and restaurants Weymouth has it all.
